The musicians of Sòlas have been performing together in various forms since the
ages of nine and up. Meeting through chamber music programmes, university and
work with Big Noise, the group are now based in and around Edinburgh. Musical
career highlights have included performances with Roger Norrington, Simon Rattle,
members of Quatuor Ébène, the Halle, Opera Siam, the Institut Stimmkunst, Zurich,
and in venues including the Concertgebouw, the Royal Albert Hall, Elbphilharmonie
and at Glastonbury. Whilst their individual work encompasses a variety of fields
including biological research, music education, medicine, and engineering, chamber
music and food are common loves which unite the group. This is the first time that
they will perform together as a string quartet and piano quintet.
