The life and work of actor Maurice Roëves, – a wee boy from Partick who made his
name in Hollywood, the West End and USA and UK TV and is particularly
remembered as Colonel Monro In “Last of the Mohicans” and Vincent in “Tutti Frutti.

Vanessa Roëves tells the story of her late husband, actor Maurice Roëves who was
a member of the Club until his death. He often described his life in the theatre, film
and TV as “nae bad for a wee boy from Patrick” where he grew up even though he
was in fact born south of the border in Sunderland. He made numerous films, TV
series and loved working in the theatre. One of his first jobs was understudying Sir
Alec Guinness in the title role of:” Macbeth” at the Royal Court. He will be especially
remembered in Scotland for his iconic performance as Vincent in John Byrne’s “Tutti
Frutti” and for film buffs as Colonel Munro in Michale Mann’s “Last of the Mohicans”.
