Peploe Viewing & Talk by May Matthews

Please join us for a rare chance to view some stunning original works by S.J. Peploe, that have been in private hands for decades. May Matthews, Managing Director of Bonhams Scotland, will discuss Roses in a Green Jug, a still life that not only shows the artist at the very height of his powers but was also part of one of the most important collections of the work of the Scottish Colourists ever assembled. As well as roses, Peploe is best known for his views of Iona. You’ll have a chance to see for yourself, how he captured the jewel-coloured waters and white sands of this tiny island. This talk will explore how S.J. Peploe became one of Scotland’s most cherished artists, beloved of gallery-goers and collectors alike.
