Spanish Cinema - Film Appreciation Group - Special Event

Join us for a fantastic Film Appreciation Group Special Event - MEMBERS & THEIR GUESTS ONLY

'The Films Of Victor Erice' - Presented by Rafael Cueto, Director of CinemaAttic.

As an authority on Spanish Cinema, The Scottish Arts Club is delighted to welcome Rafael to our Film Appreciation Group on Saturday 24th May at 2.30pm. His presentation focuses on the Films of Spanish Director, Victor Erice and will include a FULL SCREENING of ‘The Spirit of the Beehive’ (98 mins)‘. The Spirit of the Beehive’ is one of only four features directed by Victor Erice. It stands as a masterpiece that leaves us questioning what we missed out on due to his limited body of work. It is straightforward, earnest and with the casting of young Ana Torrent, capitalises on her candid, innocent appearance.

After the presentation - why not join us for 'Sabor de Espana" -  'A Taste of Spain' - and enjoy a Spanish patatas bravas and albondigas bowl (potatoes and meatballs / veg version) washed down with a glass of Rioja or non-alcoholic sangria.

ABOUT CinemaAttic -  established in 2008 in Edinburgh as an arts and culture blog to provide a platform for thoughts and ideas about independent cinema. The name derives from its first venue, a secret loft located in the heart of Edinburgh that was converted into a cinema to host underground cultural events. Today, CinemaAttic has flourished into one of Scotland’s key players in the film exhibition scene, delivering our events strategically with some of the most prominent Scottish festivals and organisations.

With enhanced film experiences and a strong social approach that allow us to reach transversal popular audiences beyond festival goers and specialised audiences, we have become one of the most active members of Film Hub Scotland. CinemaAttic is a case of consistency and commitment to a film programming proposal that has enriched Scotland’s film scene for almost thirteen years now. Despite CinemaAttic’s evolution they continue to maintain the initial foundation of reclaiming the artistic value of independent cinema in our all-year-round ‘handcrafted’ programmes of world cinema.
