Exploring the Portrait in Clay - with artist and sculptor Laura Cullen

3 session block  3, 10 & 17 July 2025 - 2 hours per session  (Class cocktail or mocktail refreshment included in price)

"Over 3 sessions, beginners and seasoned sculptors alike are invited to explore portraiture from a sculptural perspective. Working in stoneware clay and from a live model, experienced tutor Laura Cullen will guide participants through a classically inspired approach to sculpture, with emphasis on slow making and careful observation, to produce beautiful and lifelike portraits.

Concepts to be discussed include;
- History of clay sculpture
- A "drawing" approach to sculpture
- Artistic anatomy

All materials provided, feel free to bring your preferred tools. Kiln firing is *not* provided as part of the course, but should students wish to fire their sculptures of their own accord, Laura will happily advise on next steps."
