Anima Mundi Music Club - Tantos Hermanos with Jose Rojas

Giulia Drummond and Mario Caribé will perform at the Scottish Arts Club in the last of  a series of three monthly concert from May-July. In this final show, Giulia and Mario will be joined by Chilean percussionist Jose Rojas. They will present a musical journey through Latin America, visiting as many different countries as possible. Expect delightful rhythms and stunning musical landscapes!

José is a Chilean musician and his focus is in both, electronic music and percussion. He was the musical director of two Afro-Latin American dance companies in Chile: Logunede Dance and Music Company and Mestizo. Currently he is a member of Bristol Branch, Los Chicanos, Latina Turner Salsa Band, all of them based in Edinburgh. Also he leads projects involving the building and playing of ‘cajon’ with community groups, and runs percussion workshops in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Giulia Drummond is a singer-songwriter from Brazil now based in Scotland. Her musical background is filled with magical sonorities from all over the world, from Afro-Brazilian chants to Celtic music, visiting Buddhist and Hindu mantras, Hebrew and Sephardic music, in a constant research for as many influences she can find on what she refers to as Magical Music. By exploring these different music traditions, she also explores the languages, singing in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Gaelic, Latin, Hebrew, Haitian Criollo, Yoruba, Ladino…

Sao Paolo-born bassist Mario Caribé has been a major presence on the Scottish music scene since he moved here to study in 1996. He has worked with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra and klezmer adventurers Moishe’s Bagel, as well as playing innumerable sideman dates across a spectrum of style.
