James Brining - The Royal Lyceum Theatre
Come and hear James Brining talk about our local favourite, The Royal Lyceum Theatre.
James Brining is Artistic Director and Joint CEO of the Royal Lyceum Theatre, a role he took up in April 2025. Born and raised in Leeds, he has spent more than three decades leading and directing acclaimed theatre productions across the UK and Europe. His career has included senior roles at TAG Theatre Company, Dundee Rep and Leeds Playhouse, where he oversaw the theatre’s major redevelopment and commissioned more than 65 new plays. Alongside directing award-winning productions including Sunshine on Leith, Oliver! and The Magic Flute, he has worked with leading opera companies across Europe. At the Royal Lyceum, he recently directed The Seagull and Black Diamonds and the Blue Brazil, and is preparing to direct A Christmas Carol for Christmas 2026.

The Scottish Arts Club hosts various dining and evening events, such as the annual St. Andrew’s Night dinner, and other events like concerts and talks. The Dining Room can accommodate formal dinners of up to 50 but can be partitioned for more intimate events
