Drawing the Portrait - A Four Week Class with Laura Cullen
This 4-week introductory course welcomes artists of all levels to study drawing the portrait in a calm, unhurried atmosphere.
Across 4 evenings, students will be guided through a combination of exercises working both from photographs and the live model, allowing plenty of time for demonstration, critiques and independent drawing as they explore an introduction to the thinking behind classical academic portraiture.
Laura invites her students to explore a slow, naturalistic approach to drawing which allows for thoughtful observation and utilising a balance of optical and conceptual knowledge.
This course is suitable for complete beginners and advanced artists alike, and will be ideal for students who would like to work at a steady pace to create images with precision, grace and sensitivity.
The class will run on Thursday’s 6-8pm beginning the 16th of July and finishing on the 6th of August. Participants will need to bring their own drawing materials, a list can be provided upon purchase or by emailing administrator@scottishartsclub.com. Tea and coffee will be provided to participants free of charge.

Dining Events
The Scottish Arts Club hosts various dining and evening events, such as the annual St. Andrew’s Night dinner, and other events like concerts and talks. The Dining Room can accommodate formal dinners of up to 50 but can be partitioned for more intimate events
