Patrick Sandford wrote GROOMED for one reason only – to tell the TRUTH.  He is astonished that the play has proved so popular. Maybe we all have wounds that we need to heal. He has taken the play far and wide including to the VATICAN. He will talk about this experience and about the healing power of THEATRE.

GROOMED has been performed at the UK Home Office, the Scottish Parliament, The General Synod at the Church of England, the Safeguarding Panel of the Roman Catholic Church of Scotland, on the Fringe at both Edinburgh and Brighton, as well as in theatres across the land, including a spontaneous performance in the National Theatre Studio The performance in the VATICAN of a play about child abuse is an extraordinary event. Patrick will tell how it was received among the Renaissance palaces and courtyards. He will also talk about the wide range of people who came to see it at the Fringe – in both Edinburgh and Brighton, where it scooped three theatre awards.

• Patrick started his career at Perth, also working at the Royal Lyceum, The Tron, and Pitlochry. Since then he has been Artistic Director of three regional theatres, producing work which has toured nationally and internationally, including into the West End. He won the TMA Award for Best Director and has been nominated for several others. He maintains a strong connection with Scotland.
