Members bookings: email bookclub@bbc.co.uk to register your interest in attending.
Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Attendees are encouraged to come with a question they’d like to ask Min Jin Lee about Pachinko. The aim is to create a real book club atmosphere, with everyone getting involved in the discussion!
Pachinko is the critically acclaimed, best-selling second novel by Korean-American author and journalist Min Jin Lee. Published in 2017, the book is an epic historical fiction saga that follows four generations of a Korean family before, during, and after their migration to Japan throughout the 20th century. It was a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction and has been widely praised by figures like Barack Obama for its vivid depiction of identity, resilience, and institutional discrimination faced by Zainichi Koreans (Korean residents in Japan).
