November Exhibition Preview: Angela Brown
From Neaera to the New Town: works by Angela Brown
Angela Brown is an artist who has lived many lives. From studying Ancient History at Oxford University to managing international banking projects with HSBC, from small-scale farming in the Cairngorms to completing her recent Master’s at Glasgow School of Art and becoming a full-time artist in Edinburgh, her work is as varied as the life experiences she draws on.
This, her most significant solo exhibition to date, traces Angela’s work from her early days to the present. It encompasses her decade in Aberdeenshire and her continuing Greek practice, focusing on women in ancient and modern cities, developed through residencies in Exarchia, Athens. Finally, it showcases her recent Edinburgh cityscapes.
The exhibition includes a wide range of media, reflecting the diversity of her practice: from lino prints and scraperboard etching to oil, watercolour and acrylic painting, and even photography using holographic filters. Something for everyone!
